Building Momentum for Alcohol Awareness Month
April is Alcohol Awareness Month, a perfect opportunity to translate the growing momentum behind our Get Serious campaign into real action to solve America's underage drinking crisis.

By April, here's what we need to do:

- Recruit thousands of people -- professionals, advocates and other concerned Americans -- to sign the Get Serious petition.

- Make sure state legislators and governors in every state receive Get Serious petition letters supporting proven solutions to underage drinking.

- Turn out thousands of advocates and citizens to Underage Drinking Prevention Town Hall meetings across America in late March.

- Recruit influential organizations and advocates to co-sponsor and endorse the Get Serious campaign.

- Reach out to newspapers, journalists and editorial boards across America to support the Get Serious policy agenda.

Political Leaders Already Getting the Message
One supporter in Vancouver, Washington signed the Get Serious petition and within hours received personal responses from her state senator and representative asking for more information. "Thanks for bringing this up," wrote her representative. "No one is talking about it up here, but it sounds like the kind of thing I'd like to take on."

Over 5,000 young people die every year in alcohol-related accidents. Meanwhile, the alcohol industry continues to reap big profits from underage drinking. It's time to raise our voices. Tell your elected leaders to support real, science-based policies to protect America's kids and teens from alcohol.
